Prisonniers et prisons sur la scène de l’Opéra-Comique (1789-1801)

Although prison scenes and characters of prisoners can be found under the Ancien Régime, they are going to increase during the French Revolution. This contribution puts forward a wide overview of the works related to this theme created at the theaters Favart and Feydeau between 1789 and 1801 as to understand the gradual transformation of the prison universe during the Revolution. It analyses the evolution of the taste basing on various scenographic exemples and reviews published in contemporary press
