This work is part of a broader project aiming at developping a thorough formalization in the field of cognitive linguistics. Our model is based upon the Theory of the Predicative and Enunciative Operations (TOPE). TOPE considers an utterance as the product of various linguistic operations which can easily be described in cognitive terms. The theory of location and the type of topological representation suggested in the TOPE framework enables us to propose both a cognitive and constructional approach. From this angle, we present the operation of windowing which contributes to a cognitive analysis of English aspectual and temporal markers.
