This article examines the migratory system of the Cypriot Republic which specificity is to be at the same time the second country of the European Union in terms of foreigners' percentage with regard to the total population, but also one of the most closed to the long-lasting installation of foreigners on its territory. The central hypothesis of the analysis is that, to solve this visible paradox, was developed in Cyprus, a « confinement regime » leaning on the sidelining of foreigners, in space and in time.
