Successor of the plaster cast workshops of the Louvre, of the Arts Décoratifs, of the School of Fine Arts and of the Museum of Comparative Sculpture, the plaster cast workshop of the RMN-GP has brought together a remarkable collection of moulds and models of major sculptures from around the world, from prehistoric times to the present day. This paper describes the activity of this two-hundred year-old workshop whose vocation is historical and didactic, but also commercial. It presents the organization of the workshop today and the different techniques employed by the cast-makers over time, from traditional clay moulding to the most innovative digital processes
