Gut microbiota is composed of different microorganisms that play an important role in the host. New research shows that bidirectional communications happen between intestinal microbiota and the brain, which is known as the gut⁻brain axis. This communication is significant and could have a negative or positive effect depending on the state of the gut microbiota.
