The hallucinatory interval in Hugo Pratt’s Corto Maltese: the figuration of the word and the visual discontinuity. With his character Corto Maltese, the Venetian cartoonist Hugo Pratt reinvented the adventure for the twentieth century. In the work of Pratt, different landscapes and spaces are rediscovered through previous literary works. The present article approaches the literary construction of the different albums of Corto Maltese using the concept of Menippean satire. Moreover, each of the stories of Corto Maltese raises the tension between the accumulation of literary wisdom and historical knowledge, and a constant need to escape.
