The necessity of representation of library institutions in social networks, including the network facebook.com was proved. Annual monitoring of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine pages was realized to determine the relationship between the number of followers and the quality of content on facebook.com. The basic methods of giving information about V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine were analysed. An attempt was made to distinguish between «own content» and «original content».
