The main measures aimed at reducing the environmental danger of gas supply systems operation have been identified. The main methods of increasing the reliability of gas distribution systems in the design of gas networks are considered. The complex index of reliability of gas distribution systems is used, which allows choosing the optimal version of the gas supply system
