‘Creative Economy in Perspective: Creativeworks London and Understanding Creative Hubs’

This chapter presents some of the key research findings of Creativeworks London (CWL), focused on the nature and the role of Creative Hubs. CWL was a Knowledge Exchange Hub for the Creative Economy, funded by the UK's Arts and Humanities Research Council. It was a partnership of more than 40 research organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the creative economy in London. Its aims were: to develop collaborative research partnerships and projects focussed on the most pressing needs of London's creative economy; to support innovation and growth within that economy; to enhance the capacity of researchers in the Arts and Humanities to work in collaboration with businesses and individuals within the creative economy. The chapter explores the diversity of creative hubs in London as well as identifying the key questions they pose for creative businesses, policy makers, and those working on urban regeneration. It considers in detail one example of a creative Hub in East London, The Trampery in London Fields
