The aim of this article is an attempt to answer questions regarding divergences in associations occurring amongst different social groups, and the way of translating a particular linguistic worldview or, in other words, a way of establishing connotative equivalence in the target text. Deliberations on connotative equivalence in the light of the theory of linguistic worldview focus mainly on problems occurring during the process of translation of any text. The article presents Humboldt, Sapir, Whorf, De Courtenay, Grzegorczykowa, Maćkiewicz and Tokarski’s views on different linguistic worldview.
