Space Metaphors and Parabolicalism in Sławomir Mrożek’s Novels from the Collection Dwa listy

The article analyzes the function of space metaphors in four stories by Sławomir Mrożek from the collection entitled Dwa listy (We młynie, we młynie mój Dobry Panie, Ci, co mnie niosą, Błazen, Ten, który spada), which constitute parables of differing degrees of narrative structure complexity. The author proves that these metaphors are a significant indicator of parabolicalism, not only when they serve the function of a compositional dominant which organizes the plot and/or the represented space, making it into a “speaking” space but, also, when they appear on the novels’ narrative level.Uniwersytet w Białymstoku10513
