Environmental education from the ecological identity: a case study.

The present work has as general objective to investigate the environmental knowledge presented by the students, in the spaces of coexistence of the classes of Biology, of two classes of Polytechnic High School, for the constitution of the Ecological Identity and, from this, were proposed generative themes for the development of Environmental Education (EA) in a critical-reflective perspective. This is a qualitative research and a case study in which the environmental knowledge of said classes in the Biology classes was analyzed, used as a living space for reflection and debate of socio-environmental issues related to reality and perceived by students, in the year of 2015. We adopted the fundamentals of the critical-reflexive EA strand, being the reflexive component as important as the behavioral one. The students presented their environmental knowledge related to and integrated with their experiences related to the environment and social / cultural aspects from which the categories derived: I - Perception, from the scientific perspectives, romanticized and interpretive, II - Intent and III - Action. determined their ecological identity. Through the ecological identity we propose the following generating themes: I - Water abstraction Antônio Duro Dam, II - Waste sorting in Camaquã and the final destination and III - Challenges and benefits of organic agriculture. These generating themes originate through the socio-environmental context, which can stimulate the students to deepen their knowledge, helping them to construct new perceptions and possibilities regarding the generating themes to act as critical subjects and participating agents in society. EA is fundamental for raising awareness and for actions that involve society in the search for strategies for solutions and attitudes that promote sustainability and dialogue among the various segments of our society. In this sense, it is important to mention that the school is an important place that can propel the process of social transformation towards the global balance between human interests and the capacity to recover natural resources.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral investigar os saberes ambientais apresentados pelos estudantes, nos espaços de convivência das aulas de Biologia, de duas turmas do Ensino Médio Politécnico, para a constituição da Identidade ecológica e, a partir desta, foram propostos temas geradores para o desenvolvimento da Educação Ambiental (EA) na perspectiva crítica-reflexiva. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa e um estudo de caso em que foram analisados os saberes ambientais das referidas turmas nas aulas de Biologia, utilizadas como espaço de convivência para reflexão e debate de questões socioambientais relacionadas à realidade e percebidas pelos estudantes, no ano de 2015. Adotamos os fundamentos da vertente da EA crítica-reflexiva, sendo o componente reflexivo tão importante quanto o comportamental. Os alunos apresentaram seus saberes ambientais relacionados e integrados às suas vivências referentes ao meio ambiente e aspectos sócio/culturais onde derivaram as categorias: I - Percepção, proveniente das perspectivas científica, romantizada e interpretativa, II – Intenção e III – Ação. Estas, em seu conjunto, determinaram sua identidade ecológica. Através da identidade ecológica propomos os seguintes temas geradores: I – Captação da água da Barragem Antônio Duro, II – A triagem do lixo em Camaquã e o eu destino final e III – Desafios e benefícios da agricultura orgânica. Os referidos temas geradores se originam através do contexto socioambiental, os quais podem estimular os alunos a aprofundarem conhecimentos, auxiliando a construírem novas percepções e possibilidades referentes aos temas geradores para atuarem como sujeitos críticos e agentes participantes na sociedade. A EA é fundamental para tomada de consciência e de ações que envolvam a sociedade na busca de estratégias para soluções e atitudes que promovam a sustentabilidade e o diálogo entre os diversos seguimentos de nossa sociedade.
