The Romanian community on the territory of Serbia is a historical community that is ethnically artificially divided because of the non-recognition of the Vlach-Romanian synonymy. The tendency of the Serbian state to maintain and use the term „vlah” to designate all Romanians in Timoc was a hindrance to the identity recognition of the Timochean Romanians as a national minority and the gaining of specific rights.
