Marriage and Monarchy in Alfonso X’s IV Partida (XIIIth century)

The main objective of this paper is to analyze, within the alfonsine juridical work of the Siete Partidas, how marriage is presented and conceived, and how the enunciation and ordination of the norms give it a special meaning and a central place inside this juridical work. This ordination is not fortuitous, and, in the contrary, it builds a speech that supports and legitimates royal function. The main documental source consulted for this paper was the fourth book of the Siete Partidas, specifically dedicated to matrimonial laws
