Internationally, there are concerns about rising nursing workforce shortages, which could be attributed to both recruitment and retention issues. As the population rapidly ages in Singapore, there is an increase in demand for more trained nurses to staff new facilities. Given the problem that Singapore is facing, there is a need for other solutions besides increasing recruitment rate. A time-motion study of nurses’ workload can assist us in determining how and what nurses spend their time on during their working shift.
