Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the mammary gland

Primary sarcoma of the breast is a rare but aggressive entity that represents less than 1% of cancers in this organ. Its early anatomopathological diagnosis is important to be able to perform a complete surgical treatment. From a histological viewpoint, it is difficult to be distinguished from other sarcomas and carcinomas. Its prognosis is bad and the local recurrence and distant metastases are common. This study presents the case of a 73-year-old woman who presented to the doctor with a palpable mass in the right breast, detected by breast self-examination 15 days before, without presenting another symptomatology. After performing analytical and imaging studies, exeresis of the mammary lesion was performed, and the anatomopathological study reported a primary undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma in the breast. Radical right mastectomy was performed, after which metastasis of the dissected axillary lymphatic gland was not found, nor signs of residual neoplasia were observed.
