Southern winds cause long queues and delays at AIA (Atatürk International Airport) during landing and take-off operations. Recent research has shown that the main reason for the occurrence of long queues at AIA is due to southern winds. Even though numerous factors affect the capacity of the runway, runway capacity is directly affected by the wind factor. An accurate analysis of wind direction and power leads to obtaining correct estimates about the frequency of the conditions that cause capacity decrease.
