In the current manuscript we report a detailed characterization based on spherical aberration (Cs) corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) of enzyme (lipase) loaded ordered mesoporous silica (SBA-12) at an accelerating voltage of 80 kV. The extremely high resolution images combined with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) analysis have allowed a complete and unambiguous determination of the presence of the enzyme inside the pores.Spanish Government (MAT2009-13569 project number) is acknowledged for funding.Peer Reviewe
