Determination of organochloride pesticides ressidue in Sungai Liwagu in Kundasang highland farming area

The study was conducted to identify the organochlorine pesticides that are present in Sungai Liwagu in Kundasang Highland farming area and to quantify the concentration level of organochlorine pesticides residue in the rivers. Four sites were selected from Sungai Liwagu in Kundasang Highland farming area for studies on the contamination by organochloride pesticides. Water samples were collected from each site and were analyzed for 12 pesticides and their degradation products by liquid-liquid extraction, followed by gas chromatography-masssp ectrometry ( GC-MS). In situ parameter which is temperature, pH and turbidity were measured. The results showed that all 12 organochloride pesticides in all water samples from selected sites were not detected. The pH and turbidity of all samples are under the maximum allowable level of Class II water quality
