In both species, there are four spinous footpads (numbered). The fourth pad is narrow, fragmented (and hardly recognized by light microscopy). The nephridial tubercle (ne) is placed in the middle of the third footpad. 15 – 16, Feet of adult specimens showing paired claws (cl) and distal foot papillae (arrows) that are duplicated in most cases. Circular insets represent feet in one day (M. inae sp. nov.), and two days old juveniles (M. blainvillei), respectively. Note that in juveniles, there are 3 – 4 distal papillae that are not duplicated...
