(A) Na-dependent glutamine uptake was significantly decreased in villus cells from the chronically inflamed intestine and in vivo treatment with ATK reversed this inhibition. ATK had no effect on Na-glutamine co-transport in villus cells from the normal intestine (B) Na-K-ATPase activity that was significantly reduced in the villus cells during chronic enteritis was reversed by ATK. Na-K-ATPase activity in ATK treated normal intestine remained unaffected.</p
