(A) Whole blood (PAXGene®) gene expression of IL-10 mRNA levels at 24 hours post-operatively in patients with and without infection, (B) Citrated plasma IL-10 protein levels measured at 24 hours post-operatively in patients with and without infection, quantified by ELISA (C-H) Whole blood (PAXGene®) gene expression of TNFα, IL-12, T bet, IL-23, RORγt and FOXP3 mRNA at 24 hours post-operatively in patients with and without infection. mRNA levels are presented as a relative quantification ratio between the candidate and the reference genes. All graphs are displayed as median and interquartile range. P values are a comparison between the patients with and without post-operative infection (Mann Whitney U test).</p
