MCP-1 mRNA expression levels were significantly increased in nitrofen-exposed lungs compared to normal tissue as shown by qRT-PCR (A: 4.0 fold increase over control, p = 0.04). Increased systemic MCP-1 serum levels were observed in the CDH group compared to control by ELISA (B, 1.3 fold increase over control, p = 0.01). Western blotting analyses confirmed these findings by revealing significantly increased MCP-1 protein levels in CDH lung tissue (C, 5.2 fold increase over control, p = 0.004).
