Bacterial 16S rRNA gene amplicon libraries were obtained from 0 m, 5 m, and 10 m below the oxycline. Sequences were classified based on best BLAST hit results, and putative iron and sulfur metabolizing bacteria were identified based on phylogenetic affiliation with (A) iron reducing bacteria = IRB, (B) sulfur/sulfate-reducing bacteria = SRB, (C) iron oxidizing bacteria = IOB, and (D) sulfide oxidizing bacteria = SOB.</p
