This paper aims to present the characteristics extracted from experiences of e-learning implementation. The experiences were identified from a systematic literature review and exploratory research with a search protocol. The method used was documentary and content analysis. This analysis selected a set of 78 experiences related to the research topic, retrieved from scientific databases. The results include characteristics grouped into three axes: organizational, pedagogical and technological, considered as support for online education
