Relative expression of genes involved in biofilm formation of Staphylococcus epidermidis was determined by quantitative real-time PCR analysis. Total RNA was extracted from bacteria in different treatment groups (biofilm control, biofilm treated with propolis Eth extract and biofilm treated with chitosan-propolis nanoparticles), converted to cDNA and analyzed by qPCR using specific primers.
