A novel marine nitrifying and aerobic denitrifying bacterium, was isolated and identified from shrimp culture ponds. The heterotrophic nitrifying and aerobic denitrifying characteristics of this strain were confirmed and investigated when ammonium chloride, nitrite sodium, and nitrate sodium were used as the sole nitrogen source. Furthermore, the highly precise analytical method of gas chromatography-isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-IRMS) was employed to determine the nitrogenous gases and clarify the nitrogen removal pathway of the bacterium.</p
