The work in this thesis describes the efforts to enhance the efficacy of malaria vaccine candidates based on merozoite surface protein 2 (MSP2). The suitability of liposomal formulation as an adjuvant was assessed by studying the immune response to MSP2 in mice. Identifying the functional epitopes was also a focus of my work which will facilitate the development of an effective MSP2-based vaccine candidate. The results of this work provide a valuable platform for the future development of vaccines targeting surface antigens formulated with liposomes without the requirement of additional adjuvants
