Study of auditory verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia from image analysis by Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Schizophrenia is a multivariate and complex illness, where genetic and social-economics factors play an important role in the disruption of brain functioning. Psychopathology symptoms could divide in two types, negative and positive. Negative symptoms refer to an absence or lack of healthy mental function behavior and perception. Positive symptoms are the delusions and hallucinations, being one key part of them the auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH). AVHs are a convictions that other individuals are talking to the patient despite the absence of an external auditory signal.
