Alcohol is the addictive substance with the most widespread consumption[1]. Because of this, alcoholism is a social problem in many communities and across all ages; with especially dangerous effects in the brain functions of addicts[2]. Thanks to the rise of omic sciences, now it is possible to approach the study of this relationship between alcohol and brain from an omic perspective. Besides, recent studies suggest that alcoholism alters the physiology of addicts differently depending on their sex[3], which highlights a new perspective from which this addiction could be studied, to better understand its effects and treatment
