Though we have called it the Harappan Timeline, it concerns the entire Indus-Sarasvatī archaeological complex, or what has also been called the Greater Indus Valley, or what the Reich-Narsimhan study has called the Indus Periphery; though Reich-Narsimhan’s Indus Periphery may extend beyond Greater Indus Valley, as it includes all those “who were in cultural contact with the Indus Valley Civilisation”. Going forward, for the sake of brevity, we shall often use the term Harappan to refer to the Greater Indus Valley.
