Values Attached to Educational Goals and Perceived Outcomes, Educational Motivation, and Study Processes

This study examines the relationship between values attached to educational goals, perceived outcomes, educational motivation and the study processes of students. Unfortunately, research studies on educational motivation have not covered this topic as it relates to valuing educational goals. Using quantitative research methods, the present study seeks to investigate two basic research questions: (1) What is the relationship between values attached to educational goals, perceived outcomes and the study processes of students? and (2) How useful are values related to educational goals and perceived outcomes as a predictor of educational motivation and study processes? Results from this study will contribute to the understanding of educational motivation and will provide additional literature related to concepts of student\u27s educational values and study processes. Further, the study will provide information regarding the ways in which these concepts assist students in pursuing their educational and life-goals. 500 undergraduate and graduate students from a mid-western university, USA, will be recruited to participate in an online-survey to provide data for the study. Results and further research proposals will be discussed
