Many marine species undertake long-distance migrations as part of their life history strategies, and so form an important part of marine ecosystems performing a range of functions, across many habitats. However, these migratory species, including sea turtles, face multiple threats and anthropogenic impacts across their ranges and knowing their movement and distribution patterns enables more effective and appropriate conservation strategies to be devised.
