The final work is focused on the use of fairy tales in teaching Czech language and literature at primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the definition of reading literacy and its position in the Framework Educational Program of Basic Education. It presents factors influencing reading literacy, reading signs, types of reading, reading methods and explains the concept of fairy tale. It introduces some authors and illustrators of fairy tales. The practical part of the thesis consists of worksheets far fairy tales, which were verified in practice and are intended for pupils of the 3rd year. In particular, worksheets promote reading comprehension and contribute to the development of reading literacy
