International audienceThis contribution examines the morphological and syntactic genesis of the initial marks of the Berber noun: marks of gender, of number and especially of state (Free / Bound State). This initial marking of the noun is specific to Berber, unlike the final marks which all have Afro-Asian correspondents.It reviews the different theories proposed by the Berber specialists (Vycichl, Prasse ...), by examining their strengths and the unresolved issues they raise.Consensus is reached on the secondary character of the formation of these initial marks, starting from the trans-functionalization and agglutination on the nominal theme of initially separate and optional morphems, of deictic and / or pronominal origin.
