Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong, complex neuro-developmental disorder, affecting; communication skills, social interests and repetitive behaviours (Yu et al. 2013), at a time when a child is typically developing social skills (Arndt et al. 2005). The term ASD is expanding to cover this vast variance in cognitive, social and communicative functions.
