Objective: To investigate the physical activity levels in asthmatic children in relation to asthma control and body mass index (BMI). Design: A service evaluation study. Participants: 21 boys and 16 girls between the ages of 5 and 14 were recruited from The Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Edinburgh) asthma clinic following recent exacerbation of their condition. Participants were excluded if they suffered from any other health conditions or physical disabilities which may have affected their ability to exercise.
