This study attends to Guy Debord's proposal of the "Society of the Spectacle", attempting to understand it as he comprehended; 'as the historical moment by which we happen to be governed' (1994, p.15). Proposed as an attempt to understand the novel forms of control permeating across society, as well as to make meaning of the social disintegration characteristic of modern society, Debord's contentions seem more valuable and appropriate than ever, and written nearly half a century ago, they still evoke thought and deliberation as to both the individual and the collective outcomes of contemporary capitalism.ba_filmmedunpub1572_ethesesunpu
