There are currently about 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and it is estimated that 670,000 family and friends are providing care and support to them. This caring role may be enjoyable and provide satisfaction but it can have a significant impact on the well-being of the person providing care, bringing direct stresses which can affect work, social life and other relationships. Occupational therapists can offer interventions for people living with dementia and their family and friends, to help with activities such as personal care, work and leisure.
