In 2004, DOGAMI began collecting surface and subsurface geologic data for the Portland metropolitan area. The purpose has been to provide high-resolution and high-quality geology data to support urban earthquake hazard assessments and modeling. The final step was to create three-dimensional models of shallow geology and a shear-wave velocity model of the upper 98.4 ft of the greater Portland metropolitan area in 2012 and 2013.
