Lors de la conception de systèmes cyber-physiques, des modèles issus de différents environnements de modélisation doivent être intégrés afin de simuler l'ensemble du système et estimer ses performances. Si certaines parties du système sont disponibles, il est possible de connecter ces parties à la simulation dans une approche Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL). La simulation doit alors être effectuée en temps réel où les modèles réagissent périodiquement aux composants réels.
