La fréquence de ces anomalies dans les hémopathies myéloïdes est de 10 à 20%, atteignant 50% dans les échantillons de leucémies myélo-monocytaires chroniques (LMMC). Les mutations observées sont inactivatrices, ce qui suggère que TET2 est un gène de type suppresseur de tumeur et que les mutations retrouvées conduisent à une perte de fonction de la protéine.
