La glycosylation est l’une des principales modifications post-traductionnelles des protéines. La glycosylation des protéines est fortement modifiée lors de diverses pathologies comme le cancer, la polyarthrite rhumatoïde ou les troubles congénitaux de la glycosylation («Congenital disorders of glycosylation», CDGs). Ainsi, la nature et les proportions relatives des oligosaccharides liés aux protéines peuvent être utilisées pour dépister, pronostiquer voire suivre l’évolution de pathologies.
