La thèse concerne l’histoire de la géographie en Chine ancienne et médiévale. En nous concentrant sur la région du cours moyen du fleuve Bleu (le Jingzhou, à cheval entre le Hunan et le Hubei), nous analysons les modalités de la représentation de l’espace telles qu’elles sont transmises par un ensemble de textes composés entre les dynasties des Han de l’Est (25-220) et des Tang (618-907). Elles relèvent dans un premier temps d’une géographie politique étudiée à travers les traités géographiques des Histoires dynastiques. Nous traitons ensuite de la géographie humaine.
