L'imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle (IRMf) permet d'examiner l'organisation fonctionnelle du cerveau humain de manière non-invasive et chez les sujets sains. L'implémentation de cette technique chez des primates non-humains représente un progrès important dans les neurosciences des systèmes. D'une part, l'IRMf singe permet la réduction et le raffinement des protocoles invasifs impliquant des primates non humains, en révélant les régions d'intérêts dans lesquelles les approches focales invasives, électrophysiologiques ou anatomiques, devraient être menées.
