Because acquisition techniques of geometrical information on three dimensional objects are numerous, geomorphologist have to make choices and compromises, regarding their specific complexity and requirement. This article presents the results from a project conducted on the Super-Sauze earthflow (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, southeastern France). The low altitude aerial photos methodology comes out a satisfying compromise between cost, accuracy and difficulty of implementation. The selected means are light enough to enable a high reactivity to unexpected events, tools and methods reliable enough to concurrence on field acquisition techniques.
