When development prevails on environment : deforestation in Brazilian AmazoniaDeforestation in Brazilian Amazonia rises mainly from planning and development policies initiated in the years 1950 and consolidated in the years 1970 by the Brazilian Authorities. These policies created great agricultural exploitations and pastures whose production, sold inside or exported, contributes to the development of Brazil.
