La Côte des Quaqua dans la traite négrière atlantique du XVIIIe au XIXe siècle révèle deux intérêts importants. Cette étude permet une pesée globale de la traite sur le littoral quaqua conformément à la ponction totale de la Côte des Vents. Ce rivage fait 26,17% soit 88.158 esclaves traités à la Côte des Vents sur un total de 336.867. A l’échelle de toute la traite atlantique, le littoral quaqua pèse 0,70% sur un total d’environ 12.521.335 esclaves embarqués. Le second point associe le commerce intérieur d’esclaves et les exportations via l’Atlantique. Cela traduit l’articulation entre le littoral et l’hinterland.
