version longue issue de : 7th European Magnetic Sensor and Actuator Conference, Caen, France, Jun30-Jul02, 2008International audienceIn this paper we present a simple and efficient Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) eddy current system using GMI (Giant Magneto Impedance) magnetometer and single wire inducer. The performances of the system are determined and compared with a reference sensor. NDE measurements are done to detect corrosion defect on reference samples. A theoretical analysis with the finite element method compared to experimental measurements shows that the improved GMI (IGMI) magnetometer sensor could be easily used to detect defects like cracks or corrosions in agreement with sensor spatial resolution
