L’instabilité des cavités souterraines (mines, carrières, tunnels,…) peut induire les mouvements de terrains d’amplitude suffisante pour endommager les bâtiments et les infrastructures en surface. Les méthodes traditionnelles, utilisées dans les pratiques d’ingénieur pour prévoir les déformations dans les structures, sont basées sur les caractéristiques des mouvements de terrain en condition de terrain vierge sans prendre en compte l’effet de la présence des structures en surface.
